Houston has always been a favorite travel destination of mine. For many years my family has held rental property in this city because the real estate in this town just seems to weather the storm much better than the rest of the United States.
I visited Houston again about 2 months ago. It was a trip for both business and vacation.
On the business side, I had to get one of my father’s rental properties ready to sell.
I found this great home staging company, and they helped me get the home sold in just a few days on the market.
Once that happened, I was able to visit all my favorite spots in Houston. Many people don’t realize that the theater district in Houston is the 2nd largest in the U.S., next to Broadway in NYC.
I took in a few shows and also spent time checking out all of the updates that the Rocket City has made in the Downtown area.
As long as we’ve been featuring Houston, a/k/a, the Rocket City, we might as well address the big elephant in the room. Houston road ways are atrocious. When I visited there I regularly had to drive from the north side of town to the south side of town.
First of all, I need to mention that Houston is a giant sprawling city. My hotel was on the south side of town and the lawyer I was working for (a traffic accident lawyer…website here) was clear across town. I’ve never been in a city where you can literally drive for an hour and still be in the same ctiy, but that was my daily commute.
Anyway, while I was clerking for this lawyer, I wrote an article about the freeways in H-town and the ridiculous traffic in that city.
So here is my unofficial list of Houston’s worst freeways…
I like the Mirage too (for all the reasons Zdad listed, except the highway thing).
Being a straight woman, I was blown away by the scene at the pool. Not so hot guys, unfortunately (and they all look alike with the shaved head, surfer trunks and turned around baseball hat). But the most out of proportion implants I have ever seen! These women would be size 0 from behind, then turn around to reveal these watermelon torpedo looking things!
